If there’s a way to do this, I haven’t figured it out. We live in Zone 8b, so we’re usually just having to take the chill off the bedroom/office, which is the coldest room in the house, during the day. What would be ideal is to set this heater on Eco mode (meaning it will turn on and off automatically to maintain the desired set temperature) but have it automatically shut off at bedtime, then come back on about an hour before wake-up time. Even a 12 hours on/12 hours off setting would work for us (say, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on, repeating each day). I think the way the timer works is you set it to turn off after so many hours, but then you have to manually turn the heater back on again. So the drill now is to turn it off manually at bedtime, then turn it back on on waking and wait for the room to warm up again.
One thing I really do like about this heater is that you can run it at 600 watts if the grid goes down and you have to run it off a solar-powered inverter. We’ve learned from experience that 1500-watt appliances are not desirable in such a scenario; if your inverter is not capable of that kind of draw, it will shut off. Even if the inverter can handle the load, at 1500 watts it doesn’t take very long to completely drain your batteries. But I have to say, when we set it on H1 (600 watts constant until you turn it off), it heated the room up to 76F, which was way too hot. We keep the house at 68F during the day but the one bedroom drops a few degrees lower than that, so that’s why we got this heater.
The Eco mode works great. The heater is totally silent, and the warmth it creates is very penetrating and comfortable. After it heats up the room objects in the morning, it stays shut off for the most of the day. We just don’t want it to run all night, when we’ve got the whole-house thermostat set to 66F, because blankets cost a whole heck of a lot less than electricity. One great advantage of this type of heater: unlike a heater with a fan blowing hot air, it doesn’t dry out your eyes.
The Dreo Oil Filled Radiator Heater is great for inside your home during cold days. It warms up homes up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit using three different modes: 600W, 900W, and 1,500W. It’s portable, durable, and provides comfort due to its ease of use. With its digital display, it’s easy to know when your place will warm up. It functions very well, and it provides triple overheating protection for added safety. It’s a great product at a great value.
Overall, I am really happy with this purchase. The main thing to understand is that it’s not instant heat. The heat slowly builds in the room over hours. But once it gets there, it stays there. I set it on a low setting overnight and wake up to a
comfortable temperature in the morning. I wish the cord came out the back instead of the front but I’m working with that. It’s quiet and compact and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Five stars from me.
In an attempt to save power, since I'm the only one home during the day working.. I keep my thermostat set low and use this heater in my office. It works great and makes zero noise. I did as instructed and ran it outside for a couple hours to get the oil smell off and there is no odor when using it now. It puts a great amount of heat off without cooking one spot on my body like a dish or other style heater. I use it in Eco mode and set it to 76 and within the hour my little temp gauge says 76 right above it. Recommended! Thanks
Purchased two Oct 2025. Was hesitant to trust 5 stars with only 25 reviews. Was hesitant to pay $140 each. I own a bunch of dial type and a Hykolity digital. Hykolity not bad for my 1st digital as a test heater for digital type but problem is its not built to last. Id advised against buying the Hykolity. Many complaints of it failing within 1st winter. Thats really bad. Ive owned two dial types that still work after over 20 years. My Hykolity stopped working after 3 months of use. Took off thermostat cover and luckily was just a loose connection. Many not that lucky. You can tell the Hykolity is cheap out of the box. Hykolity support is non existant. Supposed to have a 1 year warranty but its a lie. I tried. With dial type lasting decades shouldnt have an issue in 3 months. Plenty of reviews of Hykolity failures.
Dial type are a solid buy but you have to constsntly adjust the dial. Sometimes multiple times a day. Its highly common for room to be to hot or to cold. With digital you dont have that problem because you can set digital to specific degrees. Digital type have smart thermostats that turn off and on maintaining room temperature you set.
On to Dreo
Dreo is built solid. Comes fully assembled. Wheels fold in and out. Has a carry handle that likely can be used even with warm/hot fins. If you dont own digital you are missing out. You can tell right out of the box how well built the Dreo is. Remote comes with a battery. The digital display will show with lights on but in the dark the digital display turns off. Like most oil heaters this has 3 settings low-med-high so wont go into it much other than these settings control how much wattage you are pulling. I usually stick with lowest wattage settings with all oil heaters and then set the temp to the degree I want. You can set specific degrees. It has Eco mode where the heater automatically adjusts the power it needs. Has a 24h timer you can set to shut off. Has child lock. Also has an ambiamt temperature bar. Not really sure what its for but it looks pretty. Manual says ambient indicator is to let you see temperature condition from a distance. You can turn it off if you dont like it. Over heat protection. Has a mute button if you dont like audible beeping when adjusting. Remote is nice but it is line of site. I use the same remote for both of my Dreo heaters. Dreo powers off when desired temp is reached meaning its energy efficient. Also I love how it looks. It looks and feels quality built.
Sorry so long. Just wanted to go into detail for those without oil heaters and those with dial type that have considered digital. I did buy a 4 year extended warranty to be safe. Hopefully I wont need it.
I like the sleek design of this heater. It's also built to last. The touch screen digital thermostat still works with my very dry fingers. The wheels roll very smoothly that it's easy to transport around from room to room. The cord seems to be a bit short. I plugged it in an extension cord and it turned. It's fine with directly plugging in the wall outlet. The heat radiation is good enough for a decent sized bedroom.
Dreo products have always been great for me. They always deliver on what you are expectinghg as well as being affordable. I sold another one of these from a different brand and actually kept this one. This one is lower cost on electricity as well as looking better than the other one. So yes I switched my more expensive one for this one becasue it was just technically better. Very happy with my choice. Can't praise it enough.
This thing was very well packed - double packed, so it arrived in great shape. There's no real assembly required, I just had to fold out the attached wheels, then just plug it in and turn it on, it's ready to go. It's kind of beautiful and it's built like a tank. I like that it has a handle on it for rolling it around. It feels exceptionally sturdy. It produces a good amount of heat and does it quickly. I could tell the difference in my smallish living room after a short amount of time. I love that it doesn't make any noise and doesn't blow air at me. My only concern is that the unit is controlled by a sort of flat screen attached to the heater. I don't think that one of my older relatives would be able to use this and might do better with an old-style setup with knobs to turn, although the remote is pretty easy to use. But for me, the controls work fine. It's also worth considering that this heater style may not be great for someone with kids, or maybe even cats due to the fact that the surface gets so hot.
This is a great space heater. Perfect for a studio environment where you cant have loud fans and applicances going in the background. Works very well. Does a great job of transferring heat to your space. Easy to setup and control. the Controller works well and makes things simple. Its a high-quality heater.
Its small enough to be easy to pack away while not in use. Effectively heats our studio cabin space making for a very comfortable environment.
Works off your normal plug for power. Haven't noticed anything abnormal. Power draw seems to be quite reasonable
Great product.
We recently moved to an area of the state that gets a lot of snow and cold during the winter. There is an electric furnace available for heat, and it costs a fortune! We had this same brand of oil heater that we used in our old home, and loved it, and got this one, too! The cost is low, and the heater works very well. Radiant oil heaters have no open flame or coil; everything is internal and much safer. We are old folks, and Hubby is quite concerned about a fire--with this heater that is just not possible. There is a tip-over auto off, and the surface does not get hot enough to scald. The heater does heat a litlte slower initially than a coil heater, but the heat is steady and safe. This heater heats our living room very nicely, and we have the old one in the bedroom. The cost is much less than running the furnace, which we try to avoid! The heater looks great, has a small footprint being mostly vertical. It is easy to pull around the house, with a handhold and great wheels. This heater is an upgrade from our old one, having four heat modes, a digital readout, and a remote--LOVE the remote! It is quiet quiet quiet. The cord is long. We are delighted with this new heater and recommend it wholeheartedly. It would be a great gift for anyone who does not want an open flame or coil, but still needs some extra warmth!
I have had these type of radiator heaters in the past. I purchased the Dreo heater and glad I did. It really heats up my large den area and very simple to use with the remote. I liked it so well I purchased another for our basement!
The Dreo Radiator Heater, 1500W Portable Space Oil Filled with Remote Control, was packed well and arrived with no signs of damage, which gave me confidence before even opening the box. Setup was effortless, and I was impressed by the sleek design that fits perfectly in my living room. Even though my apartment is just a one-bedroom, the living room space is quite large, yet this heater blends in beautifully without looking bulky. I haven’t run it for long yet since it’s still summer, but during test runs, it warmed the area efficiently and quietly. The remote control is a nice touch, making it convenient to adjust without getting up. I appreciate how solid and well-built it feels, and I’m sure it will keep both me and my dog cozy this coming winter. Overall, the combination of smart design and ease of use, makes this a great addition to my home.
Thank you for reading this review, I hope that this review is helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.
Bring on the cold weather, we are ready! I have a bathroom that just does not heat up in our house in the winter months like it should and this heater is going to be a lifesaver.
The heater shipped packaged very nicely. It arrived sage and secure and looks sleek and stylish in our space. The heater puts out a great heat and it warms up very quickly. I am so pleased with how well it works and how much better this is going to be than the space heater that we usually use.
I like that this is a nice thin design and has wheels on it, it is so easy to pull out and turn on and then slide back into place when we are done. It is a larger heater but doesn't feel like it at all with how well it tucks away.
What a cool addition to the home! Not only is it a really sleek looking unit, but it also works really well too. From the design to the heat output, the remote, so the functionality, absolutely love this Dreo oil filled radiator. It has 360-degree free rolling castors on it as well, to help you move it around your space quickly and easily.
My only complaint would be that the power cable comes out the bottom at the front, making it more visible. I do wish it came out the back side of the unit.
It has great versatility and functionality. The clear screen lets you know from afar, what mode you have it in, what temperature it's set at, and what timer setting you have it on. You can dim the display as well, if you want just a sleek looking radiator in your space. It heats up pretty quickly by all accounts and radiates a great amount of heat in that time. The remote is intuitive and allows for a variety of functions, including a timer, temperature changing, mode changing, turning off the audible beeps and more.
Overall, I love this new heater, it runs silently and does a great job of warming up a space!
Even though it is currently August, I turned this space heater on to test a few things! The heat level is good and I think it will keep up with chilly days/evenings in our garage work shop. It heated up very quickly and the heat seems to be very evenly distributed across the fins. I like that the fins have a different shape that is rounded on the outside rather than a straight, sharp edge. This fin design keeps the outer area much cooler and safer which I like a lot since I usually have dogs in the shop with me.
Because I have dogs in shop, I also like that it has tip over protection. I did tip it gently over and it shut off immediately at the stated 40-degree-ish zone. I tipped it back up and it required that I turn it on again as opposed to coming right back on at the previous setting. While that is a little cumbersome, I think it's a good idea for safety.
I also like that it has a thermostat to maintain a specific area temp so that I do not have to turn it on/off manually. The large digital display is easy to see from a distance.
It is extremely quiet since it is a radiant not a fan heater. It rolls around easily on the wheels and I like the wide handle to move it around.
For $140, I think it's a really good value. I think I will get a lot of use out of this heater in the winter!
Works great! Not too big, but really heats up a room. The construction is solid and the touch screen interface looks really nice. Used in a 10×10 room and heats it up within minutes. It's naturally quiet and doesn't use as much energy as some of my other space heaters.
I live full-time in a fifth wheel in the Pacific Northwest and use this during the night when my wood stove has gone out. Works great and looks nice, I like the remote but it does increase the electric bill quite a bit.
I love this heater so much, it heats the room up quickly, no odor, it's quiet, and ofc having a remote is so convenient. And I feel like the heat in the room is more sustained after I turn it off --versus my other heater that actually blows heat, which I have to keep on all the time for sustained heat. It is as big as those old school attached to the wall radiators tho, so it might be too big for a small space
This heater has helpful features and settings. I like the options for showing a light when it's hot, for eco setting vs temp setting, and the timer. The timer only gives you a countdown for turning off or turning on, so it's not a full function timer (that would be nice).
I purchased this to put in my basement to help my pipes not freeze during a really cold spell. It effectively kept my basement at a comfortable temperature. The smell was a bit strong in the beginning but if you air it out as recommended it will dissipate. Very easy to move around the house as needed.
very user friendly, and good performance. Tidy size and doesn't stand out visually, nice and discreet. No sharp edges makes it feel a bit safer too. Mute feature is excellent for a dark bedroom. Have seen reviews mentioning smell, for my part, the unit I received did not have this issue. particularly good option for a bedroom, quiet safe and easily tucked away.
I got this to heat an office in my detached garage. It is so efficient and nice. Size over all is easy to move and heats my room great. Quiet and no problems yet. Kids knocked it over one day and dented a fin but it’s still working great.
I needed it so bad because it was cold in the house and my furnace was on the fritz and wouldn’t have the furnace until six weeks. This is a good product. I recommend it to anybody.
